He’s created some of the most definitive images of Los Angeles city.

He’s fresh off the opening reception of his curated exhibit, Rendition2, at Hold Up Art gallery.

He’s got a book out that documents the LA art scene over the last 10 years.

And, he invited Kim and I to his studio for an interview. Check out our feature on Eyeone HERE. I really enjoyed reading his answers; I hope you do, too.

MUSICAL MONDAY June 28 2010

I’m not gonna lie…I love musicals. If I weren’t doing what I’m doing now, I can safely say that I would somehow be in the theater industry. For the next 5 weeks, LA (specifically, The Pantages theater) is home to “In the Heights”, a musical about an immigrant community living on a corner block of the Washington Heights area of New York City. There are several stories that develop in the plot - the dream to return home, the shame of being a college drop out after everyone has rooted for you, the need to break away from your social arrangement, and a winning lottery ticket - all connected by a fusion of Latin, hip hop, and salsa beats. I mean, the lead character is by no means a singer. He’s a rapper. It’s so different from what I’ve seen, and it’s so worth seeing. Support the arts!

This is probably one of the most popular songs from the soundtrack. Peep it:

GIVING GOOD June 27 2010

When we were in SF a couple weeks ago, we met with my cousin Gracie who was prepping for the Tour de Cure. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a series of fundraising cycling events held in 43 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Chicharon Adventures sponsored Gracie’s 80 mile (!!!) ride through Palo Alto. Our ribbon was proudly placed on her helmet, and this week she sent the ribbon back to us as a token of her appreciation. It was a great feeling for us. Next year, we’re planning to do a CA cycling jersey. Always give good.
