IT’S OUT THERE February 29 2012

I always say that inspiration surrounds you everywhere you look. You just have to surrender to the experience. Between the success of my recent meetings and the daily conversations with my best, I’m feeling incredibly inspired and eager to follow through. Currently, these have been muses:

ON (MORE THAN) ONE February 28 2012

Below is cell phone coverage from the Rhythm Natives show at Club Soho last Saturday. This entry does not paint the picture of how things actually went that night. That is all.

DAY N’ NIGHT February 27 2012

Once in awhile I leave behind work and the city to drive south. I go to this spot nestled somewhere between Newport and Laguna where there isn’t much traffic and the waves hardly crash. It’s quiet.

After so many days and weeks of “hustling” (for lack of a better word), you start to acclimate to the rhythm of meetings, emails, late nights, and early mornings. You have to break that every so often. Take time to revel in the infinite ocean, the unpredictable sky, and the engaging people you come across.

Because before you know it, you’re back to the swing of things.

Later that day, I accompanied Jon (Rhythm Natives) to the Aristocrats second store opening in Little Tokyo (the first store is in San Jose). He’s been spending some time in SJ, also acclimating to the rhythm and culture of that city, and has become friends with the people involved in SJ’s streetwear community. Those friends came down to support Aristocrats. So we went to see the store and to see them.

FAMILY AFFAIR February 25 2012

Tonight, the Rhythm Natives will be in DTLA at SOHO for a live performance. The fam is going to be in attendance, too: Primitive, Barrage Clothing, and White Rabbit. Worlds collide.

PEACE February 24 2012

Yesterday was the last LiFESWELL at Blu Monkey. We’re moving on to another venue next month in DTLA (stay tuned). I didn’t snap a lot of photos because honestly, I was having too much fun with my squad. After all, that’s really why this event exists. It’s a guarantee that for at least one day out of the month, all of us would be together to let loose. We just add a few cool things here and there so that every month is different.

Shout out to the staff at Blu Monkey, though. They’ve been supportive, patient, and more importantly, they’ve been friends. Some of my own career milestones were celebrated there: Bambu’s video premiere parties, Rhythm Natives’ debut album listening party, and of course, the very first LiFESWELL. Thanks!!

Now on to some really boring coverage.
